Eclair Junebearer Strawberry Plants
This “short day” or “springbearing” variety has early season productivity of med-large, wedge shaped, extremely sweet berries, with medium firm flesh. The variety is resistant or very tolerant of garden soil diseases. With parent stock consisting of both springbearing and everbearing varieties, it will produce fruit longer into the season than sequoia and other “springbearing” varieties. Fragrant, sweet, and juicy, with hints of raspberry and citrus, it should become the berry-of-choice for discriminating strawberry connoisseurs. Its unique taste is quickly becoming a favorite of those who have tasted it! To avoid flowering and fruiting stress on young plants, flower buds should be removed in the first year. Removal of flowers will allow the plants to direct their energy toward establishing a root system and developing a healthy, large leaf canopy to fuel next year’s crop. Junebearers produce a single crop each year during a 2-3 week period.
